Something happened with/to the footnote widget I have used for years and it is being very erratic. Some articles, mostly older, no longer have footnotes showing in the text at all. Some, mostly newer, are still showing footnotes and doing all the appropriate linking back and forth. It will take awhile to figure all this out. In the meantime I apologize and if you want to know the source for a statement please contact me directly.
